When I Need to Be Reminded of God's Love

Being Reassured by God’s Word

I know with certainty God loves me. I would fiercely defend God’s love for me if anyone were to question it. First and foremost, I know Jesus died for me.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

I am also certain of God’s love for me because I experience it. I have experienced God’s presence, answered prayers, and even my own miracle from God.

So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him1 John 4:16

Yet still, some days, I get discouraged. What I want most on these types of days is to be reassured of God’s love for me. I know to set my heart and mind on Christ.

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.  Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.  Colossians 3:1-2

I know when I stays focused on God, he will give me peace.

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you. Isaiah 26:3

God is so good, and we are so fortunate to have his Word. When I need to be reassured of God’s love for me, when I need to hear from God, I do not have far to look. I have his word. 

Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.  Psalm119:105

I love God’s word. I love how God speaks to me. I love that his word is alive, it’s God breathed, it accomplishes what God desires, and it will never pass away.

For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.  Hebrews 4:12

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16

For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven
    and do not return there but water the earth,
making it bring forth and sprout,
    giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
    it shall not return to me empty,
but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
    and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:10-11

The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever.

Isaiah 40:8

When I need to be reminded of God’s love, I go to my knees and pray. And I am reminded of truths about God through scripture I have memorized or am familiar with.

God’s love is constant, steadfast, and never-ending.

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; 
    his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:22-23

God has been with me and will continue to be with me through any difficulties that I may have.

But now thus says the Lord, 

he who created you, O Jacob, 

    he who formed you, O Israel: 

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; 

    I have called you by name, you are mine. 

When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; 

    and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; 

when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, 

    and the flame shall not consume you.   Isaiah 43:1-2

God’s love is wide and high and long and deep.

16 I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, 18 may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, 19 and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.  Ephesians 3:16-19

Nothing can separate me from God’s love.

38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

God rejoices over me with gladness and quiets me with his love.

The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.  Zephaniah 3:17

One day God will wipe all the tears from my eyes, and I will live with him forever

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”  Revelation 21:3-4

 There are so many more wonderful descriptions of God and his love in the Bible, but these verses are a big help to me. They reassure me of God’s love and concern and care of me.
