How Does God Love Us?

Completely, Perfectly, Thoroughly

Today, I wrote a poem about God’s love. God loves me completely, perfectly, and thoroughly. Because God’s love is perfect, He can never love me more than He does in this very moment. And, because God doesn’t change, and He is love, He can never love me less than He does right now.


My Poem

This Very Moment

You love me. 
In this very moment, 
You love me. 
God of the Universe, 
Creator of all things, 
Loves me. 
Personally, and intimately 
Loves me. 
You’ll never love me more 
Than in this very moment. 
And nothing I will ever do 
Will cause you to love me less. 
You love me, 
In this very moment, 
And all my other moments, too. 
You love me perfectly, 
I know that you do. 
I long for eternity. 
I long to love like you do. 
You love me. 
And I try, 
And try, 
As best as I can, 
To love you with all my heart, 
And love you with all soul, 
And all my strength and mind. 
I try to love you. 
And I love you, 
In this very moment. 
Love you, 
Because you love me, 
In this very moment. 
You love me. 
And you loved me, 
First. 


Truths I Count On

I count on the following truths that I know about God:

1 – God loves me.

2 – God doesn’t change.

3 – No matter what is going in my life right now, I know God loves me.

4 – God will still love me tomorrow.


Bible Verses on How God is Unchanging

God does not change.

For I, the Lord, do not change

Malachi 3:6

Jesus is always the same.

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Hebrews 13:8

There is no “variation or shifting shadow” in God.

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

James 1:17

Bible Verses about God’s Love

God’s love is steadfast and endures forever.

Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!

Psalm 107:1

God’s love never ceases.

But this I call to mind, and therefore I have hope. The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Lamentations 3:21-23

God quiets us with His love and exalts over us with singing.

The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who saves; He will rejoice over you with gladness; He will quiet you with His love; He will exalt over you with loud singing.

Zephaniah 3:17

God loved us so much that He gave His Son.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

Jesus died for us while we were sinners.

For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:7-8

Nothing can separate us from the love of Christ.

For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God’s love is wide and long and high and deep.

And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Ephesians 3:17-19

We are now called children of God.

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.

How Does God Love Us?

Completely. Perfectly. Thoroughly. And at this very moment.


A Prayer

Dear Father God,

Thank you for allowing us to come before you and thank you for your presence here with in a special way.

We thank you for the way you love us perfectly this very moment and that your love never changes. We thank you that we can count on you and your love in and during every circumstance in our lives. We know you do not change, so your perfect love also does not change.

We love you, Father God, with all that is in us. And it’s in Jesus’s name that we pray.
